This classic Sudanese postage stamp features the iconic image of the Camel Postman — a mounted postal courier riding across the desert. Issued during the Anglo-Egyptian Sudan era, this design first appeared in 1898 and became one of the most recognisable symbols of Sudan’s postal history.
The stamp shown here has a face value of 1 Milliem, printed in black and orange, with inscriptions in English and Arabic reading “Sudan Postage.” The Camel Postman design was used for several decades with varying denominations and colours, symbolizing communication and connection across Sudan’s vast landscapes.
